Hi friends! Last month, I told you I was working on something special that would allow me to give back. You know that I already made my $39 Bedsharing Beginner’s Guide completely free. But I’m not stopping there.
Because safe bedsharing information should not be behind a paywall.
So here’s what I’ve been up to!
I wanted to create a designated space, wholly devoted to YOU and this work. A spot in my house that would always be set up and ready for safety demos.
Here’s what I did:
I cleared out a side of the primary bedroom that we weren't really using. We don't get much natural light in that room, so I painted the wall white to help brighten it up.
Then I looked around at what I had to work with. I already had a handful of Avocado products, but I also had some random pillows and sheets from Amazon, too. (I’ve been bedsharing for six years, and I’ve accumulated several different brands over time.) I looked at all the stuff I'd gotten from Amazon, and everything had become a bit stained and ripped and saggy with time. But not the Avocado stuff.
So I contacted the brand and asked if they would send me some products to help create this new Cosleepy Demo Room. You guys, they actually said yes! 🥲
I now have everything I’ll need to do safety demos for you:
A firm, flat bedsharing mattress
An airy blanket and breathable cotton sheets
The three key pillows for comfy cuddle curling
A wedge pillow for safer chest sleeping
A foundation to allow airflow underneath the mattress
A demo doll, chosen by our Instagram community!
(If you want links for any of these items, for your own family bedroom, I saved them for you here.)
I can’t express how excited I am to have this designated space to create lots of free educational content for you.
Want to know how to pack the cracks? How to burp your baby while bedsharing? Which support pillows to use, where? I'll show you! 🫶
One thing you’re gonna notice in my demos is that there are two bedsharing positions that are widely believed to be instinctual and protective. One is sleeping chest-to-chest, and the other is curling around your baby as they lie flat on their back.
If you tap on the audio player at the top of this article, you can listen to my 10-minute podcast episode on these two positions. The transcript is saved here if you’d rather skim it than listen.
This is something that no one talks about when you’re pregnant. They don’t tell you that your baby may insist on cosleeping. And they certainly don’t teach you the two ways to make it safe!
I’m so happy you’re here and you’ll know how to keep your baby safe, whether they want to sleep on you or beside you.
Big hug. xx
